Program of the city tour of Buenos Aires in English language
Book this original Buenos Aires city tour at ArG Tour! We provide an exclusive and preferential service when you book a private tour, but you may also book a group tour. We travel by tourist bus or taxi (according to local legislation only 4 passengers are allowed per taxi, thus 3 travellers + guide). Groups of 5 or more passengers must rent a minivan or bus. The tour can be done in one day or subdivided because you can’t see everything in one day.
Important notice
The private driver tour is booked and confirmed through payment, which must be preferably settled at least two weeks in advance.
Quickly check the product price list for some tours. You can also request a personalized budget. The segments of the walking tour of the city of Buenos Aires include:
- 10:00 Meeting with the private guide for the walking city tour of Buenos Aires. During the tour I will narrate everything about Argentine history, Argentine culture and daily life. The first stop is the Plaza de Mayo in the historic center. Old Spanish City Hall (Cabildo), Galería Güemes (The litle prince), the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Banco de la Nación, the Pink House, the May Pyramid, the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, the Jesuits, the Church of San Ignacio, the oldest shops: De Ávila Bookstore, La Estrella pharmacy, decorated with walnut boiserie, Carrara marble and Murano glass.
- At 11:00 the changing of the guard in the Metropolitan Cathedral takes place, this is where General José de San Martín, the national hero of Argentina, Chile and Peru has his grave, he is known as the Liberator of Argentina, Chile and Peru. Roverano Gallery. Old Italian coffee shop Fernet Branca. We get to the first metro line in Latin America (from 1913) to travel a station and visit the Café Tortoni, one of the most elegant in Buenos Aires.
- We leave for La Boca. Walking tour through La Boca. El Caminito street, where the dance of tango was born. The immigrants. Boca Juniors Stadium Lunch break does not have to be at an elegant restaurant or a special lunch. You can choose a very cheap, normal, elegant or extra-exclusive restaurant in Puerto Madero. I usually recommend having a choripán lunch on a typical grill in the same way that Boca Juniors fans do, near the Boca stadium and a little away from tourists.
- We leave for Núñez. On the way we will pass by the Plaza de los dos Congresos. Then we will arrive at the Memorial Park (Disappeared during dictatorship), River Plate Stadium, Chinatown. Then we leave for Palermo, we will pass by the Hippodrome and visit the Garden of Roses (Rosedal). Optional visit to Japanese Garden / Graffiti.
- We leave for Recoleta. One of the most important Masonic cemeteries in the world. Tomb of Evita Perón. We will discover the oldest, the newest, the most expensive, the strangest tomb. On the way to San Telmo, we will make a stop at the El Ateneo Bookstore, regarded among the most beautiful in the world.
- The tour continues in San Telmo. Formerly the neighborhood of wealthy Argentines, after the plague of yellow fever was rented by poor unemployed Italian / European immigrants who came seeking jobs in America. National historical museum. Russian church. House of the Ezeiza family. Lot of French (The patriot). Goldsmith Juan Carlos Pallarols. San Telmo Market. Minimal house (Narrowest house). House of Mafalda.
- We leave for Puerto Madero, the newest neighborhood in the city. “Puente de la Mujer” by Spanish architect Calatrava (torso in Malmö, Sweden; Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin). Natural reserve. Transfer to the hotel. End of services.
The program for the Buenos Aires city tour is not rigid, we can add or remove stops. Places we don’t normally see on the tour, unless specifically requested:
Casa Rosada (inside).*
Teatro Colón Opera House (inside).**
Boca Stadium (inside).***
Café Tortoni (in case there’s a long queue).
San Telmo has an open market on Sundays (it takes too long because there is always a crowd).
Evita Museum (on request).
MALBA (on request).
* For the Casa Rosada, advance reservation is a week before at most, it is open to the public only on weekends, free admission.
** The Teatro Colón has frequent guided tours, a ticket is paid.
*** The Boca Juniors Stadium field can be visited by paying a ticket.
