Located in the pampas of the Buenos Aires province, on the outskirts of the capital, the ranch tour in the Pampas from Buenos Aires is one of the most popular destinations in the region to experience a taste of traditional gaucho culture.
Founded at the turn of the last century by an Argentine citizen of Irish descent, the ranch encompasses 2,965 acres (1,200 hectares) of land, originally used for agricultural activities, including cattle ranching.
Visitors to Estancia Santa Susana Ranch are greeted with two Argentine specialties, hot empanadas and wine. After a tour of the grounds by carriage or horseback, including a stop at the Spanish colonial house that now contains a museum, guests enjoy a parrillada, an Argentine-style barbecue that remains a popular weekend tradition even among modern porteños. Tango dancers and folk singers entertain during the meat-focused lunch.
In the afternoon, visitors to the ranch sit and watch as a group of gauchos display their impressive skills on horseback.
History
The homage to his wife, Susana Caffrey, was paid by Francisco Kelly, descendant of Irish, by giving the name Santa Susana to these lands at the end of the last century.
The ranch is located in the Campana district, near the town of Los Cardales, in the province of Buenos Aires
For about three decades we have received visitors from all over the world and we use our 1,200 hectares of land mainly for agricultural purposes.
The tourist, both of national and foreign origin, will be able to enjoy within our borders any day of the week except Mondays.
Welcome
At Estancia Santa Susana Ranch, there is a certain way of welcoming visitors: with hot empanadas and wine, both Argentine staples. Once you’ve had the opportunity to tour the area in a horse-drawn carriage or on horseback, you are invited to enjoy a typically Argentine lunch: a barbecue, where meat is the main attraction and the tradition of the weekend is still in effect.
In fact, it’s so beloved that it’s also popular with some of the more contemporary porteños. While guests enjoy their food, they will also be able to enjoy some performances, with tango dancers and folk singers providing entertainment. The property’s old colonial house also houses a museum, and is definitely worth a visit as well.
