We will take a modern ferry to go beyond the widest river in the world (Rio de la Plata), in fact Colonia is only 50 km from Buenos Aires, about an hour’s journey. During the guided tour of Colonia del Sacramento we will visit the historic center, which recalls Lisbon and is a mixture of Portuguese and Spanish architecture.

We will take a ride on the tourist bus and visit the rest of the city as well as the beaches. You may have lunch at an old Portuguese restaurant or another one with a view of the river. Finally you can visit the Portuguese museums or climb to 30 meters high on the lighthouse to appreciate the view of the city, the river and in the distance the modern city of Buenos Aires.

NB: This tour should be booked (ie buy tickets) in advance because in the high season (December, January, February) Argentinians go on holiday and the ferries become fully booked and usually there are no seats without advance.

We suggest that you get the 20:31 ferry so that you can enjoy the day with no hurries.

Bear in mind that this is a group tour, not a private tour. In order to have the services you have to show up with your vouchers at the stands in the Colonia Terminal. Once you pass controls, and you exit through the doors, you have to go on your left where the bus terminal is, there you have the stands and the guides to whom you have to show up with your vouchers. Notice that the tour won’t start immediately, but something around 11:00 am if you arrive at 09:45, be sure to check that with the guides. We don’t take responsibility if you neglect to complete this mandatory step.
