The flora and fauna of the Tigre Delta

The embankments, where the water arrives less frequently, are populated by a forest of vegetation of greater size. As an extension of the Misiones forest, although with fewer plant species appears the riparian forest, on the Paraná de las palmas river. Anacahuitas, canelón tree, river alders and creole willows are some of the trees that make it up. Lianas, cactus, air carnations and ferns that upholster the branches, fight for light and space with an Asian vine of sweet aroma: honeysuckle. Varied is the number of birds that are confused between the game of lights and shadows with amphibians, reptiles and mammals that also inhabit this environment.

Different representatives of the Argentine fauna are concentrated in the diversity of environments presented by the lower Delta Islands; More than 200 species of birds, such as egrets, cormorans, all kinds of raptors, coots, macas, and dozens of little birds more heard than seen; amphibians and various reptiles abound, including turtles, frogs and snakes; and the obviousness of the stable cast of the fish belonging to the Plata basin.
And of course, the most anticipated and the least seen: mammals, from mice to the emblematic deer of the marshes.
